CRONO CROMO
.... Time, color .... improvised electronic music ....

Hubert Dupont
Lumens

bass, effects, boomerang sampler
keyboards, computer, live sampling

Free music has found its new tools: raw sounds of instruments, customized or diverted, improbable styles, the sound of diodes and the sensuality of digits ... Infernal beats, Buster Keaton-like breaks, real/fake grooves, subtle intervals, real time 'trompe-l'oreille'...
Live memory : it will disappear once the machines are turned off : tomorrow will bring a different concert!

Since 1999 (Hask Festival at Cithéa; last period of the band Décor), Hubert Dupont has explored new possibilities of improvisation; in 2004 he founded CRONO CROMO in order to continue the adventure.

  Biography

Lumens

Behind the pseudonym Lumens hides Stéfanus Vivens. After a jazz stint at CIM and EDIM, he studied arrangement of traditional music with specialists such as Bernard Maury, Bojan Zulfikarpasic, Prabhu Edouard, Minino Garay, Brice Wassy, Nedim Nalbantoglu. All these musicians will help him to develop his own language, rich with diverse human and musical interactions. He is as familiar with jazz-fusion as with Argentinean or Eastern European music and gets involved in lots of different projects. It is he who decides which projects should be performed live or in the studio.

Turning his hand to computer-generated music, Stéfanus Vivens completed his first project Freedom for Seeds (composition, arrangement, recording and mastering) in 2001. He acquires a solid experience, and is soon producing diverse albums for both jazz and rock artists. His interest in computer-generated music leads him to develop an electronic project in which all his musical influences jostle together… John Coltrane, Squarepusher, Meshell NdégéOcello, Steve Coleman, Thélonious Monk, John Medeski… As well as the piano and synthetizer, Stéfanus plays melodica, Indian harmonium, senza, tablas, djembe, berimbau and dijeridoo.

Lumens is his solo show, Elektrogecko is his band and you absolutely need to visit the website, especially with good headphones...
