|
Born in 1978 to a musician family, Yvan Robilliard started studying piano when he was 4. In 1997, he received the first prize from the Conservatoire Supérieur of Paris-CNR (class of Mme Bouthinon-Dumas). During his studies, he took master classes with Roger Muraro, Radoslav Kvapil, Germaine Mounier and Vadim Repin, Winton Marsalis and Herbie Hancock at the Festival International de Marciac. At a very early age, Yvan Robilliard showed
great aptitude for improvisation. Noticed by Mario Stanchev, who appreciated
his virtuoso qualities and his talent, he had the opportunity to meet
Duffy Jackson, Michel Petrucciani, Benoît Sourisse, Franck Amsallem,
Stephan Oliva, Bob Mintzer
From 1997 to 1998, he worked with Manuel
Rocheman in Paris and the same year he was semi-finalist of the International
Jazz Competition Martial Solal. Awarded in June 2000 with a Gold Medal
in the Jazz Class of Denis Colin at Montreuil Conservatory, he received
a diploma in composition from the Ecole Normale de Musique of Paris two

Born in 1970, he is of Indian origin (Surinam), and now lives in Amsterdam. Since 1994 he makes stays at Bangalore and Madras to study with masters of tala (of which U. Sivaraman, au mridangam) ; in 1995-96 he is the drummer of the bands of Steve Coleman Five Elements, Metrics, Secret Doctrine ; in early 1996, he joinded Kartet (Guillaume Orti, Benoît Delbecq, Hubert Dupont).
